End of term

Oh well - most people on the facebook poll cold not make Sat for paintball after all so we will finish term at the hut on Thursday at the usual time. I'll bring some paint, and maybe a ball so perhaps it wont be so different... We will reschedule the paintball early next term.

Sticky situation

It's nearly time for our DofE groups to do their practices and expeditions and I'm getting worried about the state of my Trangias when they come back... past experience is not reassuring! 



In a last forlorn attempt to discourage them from burning all their remaining food into a carbon-plated goo-pan on the last morning I thought we would learn that this is not the only way! We can cook a full english breakfast on a stick without the need for replacement trangia pans at all! We can also attempt to cook anything else you bring along on a stick...



DofE group I still need £5.50 and a form from some of you - please also ask your parents if they can help with transport on Sat/Sun.

Hmmm...

We didn't make very much progress with the rocket development at the regular unit night so I proposed we meet at my house to move matters forward on Saturday afternoon - say for a period between 2pm-5pm if a few of you can make it... Let me know! I would hope we could weigh components, get a working CAD design and do some work to construct the payload bay and fins...

Hi DofE / High!

Tonight we will be looking at the expedition prep of our old Bronze Group and, I hope, signing up and starting a new group. We are usually cheaper than the schools - it costs £20 + about £5 per expedition. Here is the sign up form.

Please bring it with your registration fee (and subs if you have not yet paid!). Old group - bring your expedition consent if you have not yet done so with the £5.50 expedition fee  (and subs if you have not yet paid!).
I hope we will also progress our rocket development so bring your Open Rocket design files!

Its the Intro Hike

Its a shiny new mountain group year and we will be hiking the Long Mynd on Sunday - it's mothering Sunday so you could give her a day off from mumming you (after you've made her a nice cup of tea and given her cards flowers and presents...) by joining us on the first hike of the new year. I've been told off for always being late to confirm who is going so please message me/phone me before the deadline which is Weds 7 March!!!

Bring along the new year's consent form, and you can let me know instead of Richard/Chris and I will sort it out with them.

...some years we get a snowy Long Mynd Intro Hike... come prepared!

Finally here are the forms you've been longing for! Those signed up for the Bronze DofE need to complete the consent form and also give me their kit list and menus! Note that I need a parent or two to help with toing and froing :)

Hmmm... it's like being back in my snowhole house in Glen Coe today and snow is settling on Berwick rd
I'm headed to bham but most trains are cancelled for the day and its set to get wintery later...
So I may not get home. I am therefore cancelling tonight's meeting at the hut.
However we have entered the youth rocketry challenge and have lots to do!
If you can brave the conditions we will meet at my house and start the development of our 2018 rocket.
I may need to supervise by Skype, but will try to be there!
