Archery for all................Sunday 25th January

If you would just like to have a bit of a shoot, or learn a new skill then the County archery instructors are having a session this Sunday (the 25th) which is open to all Scouts and Explorers.  Instruction is available and all equipment is provided so even if you haven't shot before the instructors will have you hitting gold before you know it.  The cost of the session is £2, but tell them that Alan will pay for Explorers the next time he goes.

The session is between 2 and 4PM at Sundorne School,  Corndon Crescent, Shrewsbury, Shropshire SY1 2LL.
All sessions are on a drop-in basis so you don't need to come for the whole session.
If you have any questions please give Phil a call on 07733 189916.

If you are planning on attending the National Scouts Archery Camp in May you need to get a few of these sessions under your belt to be selected!

Wintercamp Photos

Well, we had everything at Gilwell wintercamp, a long journey in a very noisy minibus, arriving at 22.45 with just 15 minutes to spare. A very windy night so it was about 01:15 before we all got to bed, yawn, a nice warm night though. Saturday saw everybody off doing activities, we caught up with them at the Segway base learning how to ride them, easy isn't it! Apparently the guys who owned them had adjusted the speed especially for the scouts, upwards of course, so these were FAST.

After that we didn't see anybody again so headed off to the rifle range to catch up with our staff team. He you can see one of only two National Rifle Squad Beany Hats in the world!!!

Wandering around site we saw a few more attractions....
The Girls meet B-P's brother?
Robotwars, Yay

Not sure who that is peeping on the Rasberry Pi tent...

HIGH Ropes
The most important White House in the world?
Well, it was a bit muddy.
When it's cold, plastic gets brittle.
Saturday night saw a nice clear sky and the temperature tumbling to well below zero. Somebody managed to steal our Russian flag, complete with pole, the Mongolian one snapped off in the wind but the Shropshire flag stood steadfast, complete with Morse Code beacon flashing BOREATTON (I think)

Modelling the Hoodie, in front of our camp.

Gate code.....................

2705

The gate code for PGL is 2705.  Go on, write it down and put it in the car now!

PGL have always been fantastic to us (they pay our electric, provide a home for our hut and stores, give us free activities etc etc etc) so the least we can do is to let ourselves in so we don't monopolise staff opening the gate for us.

Thank you.

PS a post-it note on the windscreen works :)
PPS please don't drive on the grass - you will eventually get stuck!
