Flip-flop

Bring a fry pan on Thurs and we'll have pancakes! I'll bring trangias and cooking stuff, but last year you all bonded carbon to my pans and they're kinda not quite what they used to be so bring your own pans this year!

We also need to plan DofE stuff and pancakes are an option for DofE high energy cooking so win win! It can count as DofE training!

Inter-county!

I'm running selection sessions for the Intercounty Airgun Championships - these sessions are primarily for non-Boreatton scouts and explorers so if you want to come from Boreatton please book a Boreatton ticket and we can make sure you have a go

How fast can you swim?

Fast?  Hell yes with these beasties behind you!
Thursday night we have exclusive use of Wem pool (lovely and warm so even Phil will dip his toes in).  We will spend oooh 15 minutes selecting the team for the District Gala on Saturday, then the other 45 hooning about on the inflatables.

7.50 till 9.00 at Bowens Field, Wem, SY4 5AP and don't worry if you don't want to go to the Gala - just come for a splash around!

Tuesday 4 February 2014

red and blue

Our extra meeting tomorrow (Weds 5 Feb) is to say thank you to the Shropshire Council peeps for another £1000 (woo hoo!) and run a workshop for their awards night.

The money was for summer camp in Mongolia so we plan to run a workshop billed as:

Наадам - ancient amusements from the Аltai

We need to be at:

Election Results Evening and Presentation of Funding Certificates
Wednesday 5th February 2014
6.30pm – 8.30 pm
Council Chamber, Shirehall, Shrewsbury

...but try and be there 15 mins early. I am a bit at the mercy of the train gods but will be there as soon as I can!

I will bring my flock of ankle bones and we will teach all the YPs Mongolian gambling and fighting games!

Dress like the Mongolian wrestler, or as much as you dare... but at least dress in red and blue!
and wear a necker!

Chop Chop!

Ok, so the prog has gone off course already!  We will do the swimming thing next week (because Wem pool was booked for this Thursday).  Instead we will learn how to use axes, saws and knives safely.  Sounds a bit dull but you might get to whittle a scale model of the Taj Mahal or make lots of kindling for Phils fire.
Please feel free to bring along your favourite knife or axe and we will show you how to sharpen it.
