Drum Corps............Thursday 30th April

Apologies from Roger for the short notice but Drum Corps will meet between 6 and 7 this Thursday at the school.  You are earlier as Beavers will be with you trying out drumming!

A prog!

Here's a Prog! (we haven't had one of these for a while!) The prog planning committee have updated the one we discussed last week so this is what we will aim to do... There are a few things that we will need to book and so may need to shuffle around, but the next couple of weeks are pretty definite :)

Don't forget we are providing refreshments at the Group AGM so we start at 7pm and then go on to finish at the usual time next Thursday (tomorrow!) 30 April - don't forget the cakes those of you that promised them!

Dress code

Minor update...

As we are part of the district unit and Libby gave us a bunch of free district neckers, it would be nice if we wore them for the main public whole-unit event, so please wear district neckers for the St Georges day parade. You can wear the Boreatton necker too either as two neckers or twinned in a double necker, but I think Libby would be a bit sad if we didn't wear the district ones she gave us...

See you all there!

St Georges Day Parade.......Sunday 26th April

St George - Patron Saint of both England and the Scouts!

We will parade with all the other District Scouts behind our Drum Corps through the streets of Oswestry to celebrate Englishness and Scoutiness together on Sunday the 26th of April, meeting at Cae Glas park by St Oswalds church at 2.00.  We shall be finished by 4.00.

There are only 2 parades in the year that we expect you to attend, (Remembrance Sunday being the other) so please turn out in full uniform with badges sewn on, black or dark blue trousers or skirt pressed and shoes polished!  Please wear your Boreatton necker (gold and blue) and don't wear your hoody!

Archery practice Saturday 18th April

Firstly, apologies for the lack of communication about archery being cancelled last Sunday (the 12th).  It was a last minute cancellation because of high winds and Pete and I were away on camp so didn't get the message till too late :(

There is another archery practice at Bowbrooks Field this Saturday (the 18th) between 10 and 1.  As always it is a drop in session and the cost is £3.

A camp......Hooray!!!

A camp, in the woods, eating beans and sleeping in tents.  Sort of sells itself really!

Bickley Coppice is a lovely wooded Scout camp site - we camp in the trees, cook on wood fires and flollop around in hammocks.  This will be a really laid back camp - you decide what you want to do - a bit of carving? some leatherwork? tie Luke to a tree?  fillet some trout? bivouac in the dark, damp woods? You decide (and let me know before the camp so I can buy the leather/rope/fish).

Ok.  If you want to learn some new survival skills, great.  You want to doss around poking a fire? Also great!
