photons, particles, collisions

OK - a bit short notice so we weren't able to book climbing - we'll do that in next term's prog - but we can do quasar and bowls at AMF Harlescott on Thursday 26 March 8:30-10:30 pm (so the drum corps peeps can join us).
Some Feynman diagrams for Z+jets

I can get 10 of you from Leaton if that's easier than transporting yourselves to Harlescott - just ask!

Hooray........it's nearly archery camp time!

It's nearly National Scout Archery Camp time again.  This is a great weekend packed with archery, fun activities and the chance to win medals!
Open to everyone (irrespective of ability so Phil is safe then!), who will attend several practice sessions leading up to the camp.  We leave from PGL at 6PM on Friday the 8th of May, travelling by minibus to Hertfordshire, returning on Sunday at about 7PM.
The total cost is £50, and is payable by Friday 13th of March at the latest along with a completed permission form.
Any questions, please give Phil a call on 07733 189916.

Wet, smelly and muddy..............great fun!

This is our piece of woodland that the Scouts started to coppice back at the beginning of February...
And here it is, finished off by the Explorers, ready for Dog Violets and Fritillary butterflies...

Well done to everyone who took the time to learn a new skill and improve our environment a little bit!

Scotland!

It's time to book up for winter mountain walking at Easter! The mountain group are taking us to Glen Coe this Easter and it is a great chance to take your mountain walking to the next level and challenge yourself! I really enjoy the week and aim to go - they need firm bookings very soon (we've been talking about it for a few weeks now) so let me know if you are coming!
Here a pic of me relaxing after a bit of climb last time I was with them in Glen Coe when we were climbing Ben Nevis!

Getting together... Going to the top!

Our next meeting will be a district event on:

Wednesday 4 March
Start time 7.45pm

Adam Booth will be giving a talk about his
Everest Ascent.

(Hey! he looks like my fb profile pic (except I was only half way up Ben Nevis but just as pleased to have got there... :) )

This will be at:

Walker House

Radbrook Campus

Shrewsbury

SY3 9BJ

Refreshments will be available

Maybe we could bring some suitably themed cake or goodies to contribute to the refreshments? Let me know if you can! A prize for the most Everesty contribution if we have a few of you bringing some!

Please wear at least a bit of uniform! Our ADC Explorers will be there so we ought to look at least a little bit scouty!

Corndon Cook-in!

Next w/e 7-8 March we will have a practice expedition for the new DofE groups hiking to Corndon Cottage.

The cottage is owned by friends and family of Jonathan Walton - our friend and county archery leader - it is a privilege to be allowed to use the cottage so I expect everyone to respect the cottage and its environment!

Other explorers are welcome to come for the afternoon/evening to help cook and to share the cottage for a chilled weekend away! Here are the forms and a kitlist for the expedition - you are supposed to plan this yourselves for the assessed expedition but as it's the first practice here is a suggestion! You can check out the official guidance on expedition kit (and a lot more advice!) on the eDofE website - here's a link to the kit list advice.

Please book your place! Lots of you have said you want to come but far fewer have booked a place! I will close the booking on Weds when we will buy the food!
