not sinking

Hurrah - it didn't sink! but perilously low lying in the water...  Good job we have a rescue coracle standing by! I'm not sure how well it would cross the surf at the coral reef...

Oh - not well I guess... the big surf on the Montgomery Canal was too much in the end and it did sink.

Next week, we planned to do some snow activities and so will go to the Snowdome at Tamworth on Saturday. On Thursday, we need to make some progress with plannning for the Fiji camp. I would like to invite explorers and parent to my house at our usual meeting time 8:05 - 9:35 to discuss where we are and progress a few things we need to do urgently now!

Raft building

You put raft building in the prog - I expect it will be just like this! :)

Let's do it tomorrow! We aim to meet at Frankton Lock on the Montgomery Canal between Hordley and Welsh Frankton so as to have some nice flat water (just in case our raft is not surf-worthy) and we will have a rescue coracle standing by!

Meet at about 8pm -9:30pm to celebrate the summer solstice evening in an aquatic sort of way... It says it may be wet, but hey! It's raft building! ...bring change of clothes!

I hope this is all old news 'cos Evie says she has already told you all!

Beacon building and burning at Bomere

We were one of the few Shropshire Scout beacons for the Jubilee - the biggest fire we've ever made - we felled five trees to get the structure.

And then lit it at 10:26pm (precisely) with the largest smoke bombs we've ever made! Four 1lb smoke bombs is definitely the way to start a fire!

We also ran the climbing wall with the scouts at the jubilee fair - check their blog - in fact the scoyuts and explorers ran most of the fair!
